It has bagged the prestigious Washington Museum Association's 1997 Award of Excellence. It has also won the 1998 Washington Heritage Preservation Award for the Log House Museum Project, in preservation design.

The log house museum takes you back into a nostalgic trip into the past. It tells the story of early pioneers, who settled in West Seattle, their interaction with native Duwamish and Suqamish tribes.It showcases fascinating artifacts as well as audio and video presentation.

The museum's history project narrates an interesting repository of facts. It tries to enlighten today's youth about their rich cultural heritage through creative programs which will stimulate their interest.

The Heritage Education Trunk Kits are a collection of authentic and reproduction artifacts, documents, maps, photographs, and carefully developed lesson plans and activities.

The Log House Museum project was awarded the Washington Museum Association's 1997 Award of Excellence
