Northwest Folklife

This is a festival which simply celebrates life with all its beauty. The Folklife festival not only attracts the best performing artists of the Northwest but also provides gala entertainment with great food and amusing games.

It is the largest free for all festival in the world which began in 1972. The festival caters to people from all walks of life. It is dependent on sponsors, performers and volunteers.

The Northwest Folklife Festival focuses on the traditional arts and the ethnic communities of the Northwest: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and British Columbia.

The vast array of merchants of food, fine handcrafts, imported handcrafts unusual and unique items, musical instruments, and participatory experiences such as face- painting, balloon- tying and hair- wrapping make an exhilarating addition to the performances that form the backbone of the Festival.

Northwest Folklife understands that everyone is a bearer of folk arts and that it is as important to participate in the arts as it is to observe them
